Oh Domi(No)

Conceptual studies for the redevelopment of the Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This project was a detailed study of how the elements of decay within an existing structure, such as the Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg New York, could be utilized to form a broader vision of transformation. The idea focuses more on visual tools of study which are focused on the rules of navigation of forms within a two dimensional plane and less on the actual realization of a project in three dimensional form. This forms the beginning of an investigative approach, which starts with an idea that is realized in concept, but where the lessons learned from the process become more important to the broader goal than an actual product. This project is also a response to how negatively the current renovation plan was received by the community due to the lack of site and scope specific integration into concept design. Ironically, the new represents a form of decay itself.
